Greetings!
For 30 years I've been using sound, rhythm and music to aid in maintaining my own mental and emotional balance. In the main, it did this by teaching me to access the present moment (AKA 'The Zone') and all the benefits that has to offer. I feel that's the core of what I'm here to access and share. To some extent I knew I was utilising sound to therapeutic ends all along, but it's only in more recent years that I've been greatly refining my understanding and sharing the benefits with others.
Along my path I've also amassed a huge amount of information and knowledge about spirituality and the nature of life, though this helps hugely with what I see as my mission, the biggest lesson its taught me has actually been to LET GO. Hence the name 'NowTime'. Knowledge maybe power, but presence is pure being, which somewhat conveniently also appears to be the source of all power. Aka 'Zero Point'/ 'NowTime'.
Amongst other things I'm a multi instrumentalist, singer, song writer, producer, soundscape/electroscape artist, dj, shamanic facilitator and sound channeller. Take your pick! I've been in plenty of bands, attempted solo projects and many other music and artistic angles that have brought me to where I am today, but none of them stuck. I knew from a young age that I wanted to use music to aid humanity in some way, and now I'm merging an amalgamation of many of my previous projects all into one, I'm starting to see the manifestation of that goal.
I've learned over the years that I'm not only capable of creating music. I've realised in the more recent past that what I'd been creating over the years was simultaneously cultivating an ability to channel and translate energy codes into sounds capable of evoking beneficial spiritual realms. These codes act as energetic imprints that can not only facilitate relaxation and aid us in letting go of out dated stresses and blocks, but also tune us in with parts of our selves that hold the harmonic keys to our highest dreams and goals. (I suspect they'll be more on that in future blogs)
Growing up in a rough part of North Wales u.k where going outside and trying to enjoy life was likely to get you beaten up and keep you looking over your shoulder for the next unnecessary beating on a day to day basis, I found a lot of peace spending time with animals in nature. This strong connection to the natural world aided immensely with my 'spiritual' growth. It created a window into realities beyond many limiting perspectives and beliefs common to the world. This empowered me in great part to transcend many of them and move forward.
Through all that, music was always a central part of my life. I sang from a very early age. And when my Dad asked in 1996 'what do you want for Christmas?', a vivid yet strangely almost unconscionable disembodied voice said, 'Guitar'. This 100% influenced my answer. I shrugged my shoulders and replied, 'guitar?' It was the first thought I'd given to the idea. Not long after that, playing guitar and song writing quickly became a huge part of my world. Morning, noon and night, much to my dads regret! 😇 I think mummsy was more chilled! Lol
A few years later, I began learning to drum on a biscuit tin, (As you do) before moving on to a real African Djembe drum a year or two later. I first played a real drum through the night with a large troop of drummers at an unforgettable Stonehenge Summer Solstice celebration. It was there over the following summers, and also travelling southern England and music festivals that I hugely refined my skills. By this present point I also play Albanian Cifteli, Middle Easton Saz Baglama, Hispanic Quatro, Native American/Celtic Drone Flute, along with many other odds and ends such as samplers and synths.
